A doorway to New Partnerships

One of our 5 key focuses at Cornerstone Partnership is the PARTNERSHIP APPROACH – Working together collaboratively to deliver shared goals with shared responsibility. This was no doubt in full force for our recent project with Doorway Youth Homelessness Charity in Nuneaton.

Doorway, who have been a registered local charity for 23 years, are relentless in their mission to “give homeless young people a future through advice, accommodation options, support and life skills development”. However, up until now, they had not been able to raise the funds needed to have their own property to help house some of the young people they support so fantastically.

Over the past couple of years, ex Nuneaton Mayor, Cllr Chris Watkins, has been raising money for charity in a variety of ways (including a terrifying sky dive!). He managed to reach an incredible total of £48,000! This coupled with other fundraising and grants put them in the position to buy their very first house. That’s where we came in!

The property knowledge and expertise within our team is incredibly strong, and we had got to know the area well from our work with both Coventry City and Nuneaton & Bedworth Council. We were able to assist Doorway in sourcing and purchasing a quality 3-bedroom property, which will be converted into a 4-bedroom shared house for young people in the area experiencing homelessness.
